My interest in writing came next. There was only so long that I could read about fantasy lands before I wanted to create my own. I became known as someone who always had a notebook and pen on hand since I never knew when I would get a new idea. I followed this interest to a degree in English Writing, seeing no other subject that I could show as much enthusiasm for.

My passion for editing came as a surprise. I never liked when people offered to edit my writing since they only every focused on the grammar and never about the characters, plot, and setting I put so much love into. I wanted editing to be about getting excited with writers about plot twists and character arcs instead of where a comma goes or what needs quotation marks. Discovering developmental editing, I realized, that's the type of editor I want to be. The kind that helps authors grow with their story. I want to be a developmental editor.

I am just starting on my freelance journey, but editing is a long time friend of mine. I served as an Assistant Managing Editor for SLAB Literary Magazine before gaining a Specialization in Developmental Editing from the University of Washington. I currently volunteer as an Associate Editor for Purple Ink Press as I expand my freelance business.
